CRAFTSMANSHIP AT HEART

In recent years our research has focused on handcrafted textiles, looking authentic “gems”.

In this regard we find, for example, our loden from South Tyrol which are handwoven by a local artisan: wools are sourced from nearby shepherds (sorted by color so that there’s no need of dyeing), then locally spun and woven by hand on a wooden loom without the use of any chemicals. A long, meticulous work that requires lots of care but leads to a beauty that is unmatched in industrial production.

Then there are the silks, all organic and from nonviolent production (without killing the silkworm - a rare skill considering the implications) and often local excellences woven a by hand. Such as the silk processed with peat and mineral substances in the Himalayas, or again the rare native silk from the Hatay province (in between Turkey and Syria) that is characterized by its natural colors with shades ranging from brown to tan. Considered extinct it has been preserved thanks to a local project resulting in handcrafted fabrics with a truly unique character.
